Somewhere over the rainbow, there awaits a big pot of oily goodness ready to help you and your family take a proactive approach to health issues.
Let me stop right here and say that somewhere over the rainbow, there lies an inner chemist, doctor, pharmacist, nurse, and perhaps even a writer wanna be - but instead I'm a school teacher. What I share on this blog is from personal experience and is not meant to treat, diagnose, cure, or prevent. Always check with your heath care professional if you are uncertain about something.
So, last night I helped with my first ever Make n Take session where a group of fabulous ladies came together, shared their oils, and made some products to take home and use. It was tons of fun and I was so excited to see other people as passionate about Young Living Essential Oils as we are here at The Well Oiled Family.
I've said before that these essential oils are pretty powerful, but they aren't powerful enough to jump out of your box and perform magic. Most people start out diffusing. It's the easiest way to get some benefit from your oils. Diffusers usually put out mist/smell for up a few hours. Yesterday, one of my oily friends posted something that said it takes about 26 minutes for our body to reap the full benefit of a drop of an essential oil. Imagine the benefit that you get from a few drops being diffused for several hours.
Try this diffusing recipe to get your Spring kicked started.
This Relief Stick is a great, convenient way to get a grip on spring time sniffles. Stick it in your purse for the soccer or ball field, and use anytime.
Spring is the time of year that we all start getting outdoors. It stays lighter longer in the day, the weather is super nice, ball and soccer season starts, and we fire up those grills. This is also the time of year people start worrying about finding swimsuits and getting out more for exercise. A few ways to use Young Living Essential Oils for those sunny, Spring days include sunscreen, sunburn relief, bug spray, muscle and tension relief from running/marathons/exercise, and grill cleaning.
In the above sunscreen recipe, you just use a glob of coconut oil mixed with Young Living Carrot Seed. You will notice the SPF is 34. There are many other sunscreen recipes that you can add zinc oxide to, so be on the look out for those.
We all get a little red those first few times we are out in the Spring sun.
You will notice again, using a tablespoon of coconut oi with 5-6 drops of lavender and 5-6 drops of lavender helps with skin discomfort and inflammation. That's it. If you wanted to be a little more elaborate, you certainly could. The Well Oiled Family uses coconut oil and lavender for skin rashes instead of OTC things like Benedryl. If you wanted an easy way to carry this around, you could just let your coconut oil get to room temp so it's easy to stir, add your essential oils, mix it up, and keep in a storage container with a lid such as Rubbermaid. Always mixed up and super easy to use.
Try these Young Living Essential Oils for all the Spring time activity you are gearing up to do! These recipes are also fantastic for aches and pains from working too hard, too!
(The above graphic is a little hard to see. The bottles of Young Living Essential Oils shown are Deep Relief Roll-on -a fav at The Well Old Family, Aroma Siez, Marjoram, Pan Away, Wintergreen.) Put a few drops in some grape seed oil and massage oil OR try Young Living's Sports Ease with a few of these drops added.
And finally, what better way to end a Spring day than firing up that grill. We all know how gross a grill can get after it sits all winter. Go ahead and get it cleaned up, and while you are at it, this mix is perfect for Spring cleaning anything and everything in sight!
Ya'll know I can't get through a blog post without talking about my love affair with Thieves cleaning products. It cleans everything and anything -including that grill. In a spray bottle, fill with distilled water, add two caps full of thieves cleaner (more or less depending on how bad it is). Shake well. Spray the grill down and let sit for a few minutes. Clean as normal.
And there we have it- going green on this St. Paddy's Day, getting ready for Spring- oil style.
