Spring Has Sprung..An Essential Oil Leak

Well Spring finally came and went on the calendar and The Well Oiled Family has been super busy. We had a fantastic essential oil Make N Take with Granny Went Green. If you missed it, there will be other opportunities to get in on some oily making. I hope to have a candle making class on the books soon!

Just as in other posts I want to mention that I only use Young Living Essential Oils. Young Living is the only company that makes PURE, THERAPEUTIC GRADE essential oils in a completely transparent way that they guarantee their "Seed to Seal" process. If you plan on using any recipe that uses essential oils, please note that the $4.00 bottle of lavender or the $6 bottle of tea tree you find at the drug store or the health food store is not the same thing. The quality, purity, and grade of oils is not the same. Please do your research and know what you are breathing into your body, putting on your body, or ingesting into your body. To get your own Young Living products click HERE! (If you choose to click there and get your essential oils, be sure and let me know. For the last week of March I have super duper deal you don't want to miss out on.)

In my last post, I mentioned lots of Spring ideas you can do with essential oils. I thought I'd add to that to close out March. April is going to be rocking with The Well Oiled Family, so now is the time to jump on board with these ideas.

Let's talk about diffusing some good smelling stuff first. One of the easiest ways to use your essential oils is to use the diffuser that comes with your starter kit. You simply fill it with water, drop a few drops of oil in and off you go. You may be wondering why you can't just light your favorite candle and forget all this noise about essential oils.

Sometimes, one of the simplest pleasures in life is coming home from a stressful day of work, filling the bathtub with warm water, and lighting an aromatherapy candle with a special scent that—as the label claims—will make you feel calm and relaxed. Unfortunately, that seemingly harmless candle could be filling the air in your home with carcinogenic soot and lead emissions.

“Oh, no,” you say, clutching your Calming, Sensual, and Invigorating candles to your chest, “you’ll take these away from me when you pry them from my stressed out, soot-stained hands.” Fortunately, the solution to the candle pollution problem doesn’t have to be that extreme. Alternatives to toxic aromatherapy candles abound—from natural beeswax and vegetable wax candles to candle-free aromatherapy techniques. With very little effort, you can fill your home with soothing scents without filling it with toxins.

I know you are thinking that a something as simple as a candle can in no way be harmful to your health. Well, think again! If your candle wick has a metal core, chances are you burning and putting of lead by-products into your home. You say you don't burn candles, but instead use a wax burner. Ok, no problem! If the product you are using contains paraffin, you might as well be making a fresh squeezed juice and add gasoline to it. It's just that not so good for you! Paraffin releases carcinogenic soot when burned, which aggravates conditions such as lung problems like asthma, and also heart problems. You don't believe me? Look it up for yourself. I did my research and I now know why every time i smell a candle burning or a wax burner going, my head goes nuts. As a disclaimer, I will add that not every single candle or wax burner on the market is evil. There are some that are 100% beeswax, but beeswax is so expensive, it's usually cut with this harmful, cheap toxins.

You can put anything in your diffuser that you want to, but here are some great Spring choices! In addition to diffusing, try making your own room freshener spray with distilled water, 12 drops citrus fresh essential oil, and a pinch of epsom salt to keep the oil and water mixed in a spray bottle! According to the same website listed above, Febreeze air freshener released 89 toxins! Wow! That's all I know to say- WOW!  It's super easy to do your own.

Something else we all like to do in the Spring is spring cleaning. I cannot wait to get in the girls' closets and cull their clothes. Deep cleaning is generally not my forte, and I'm sure it's not your favorite thing to do either, but if you have to do it, you might as well do it safely. Safely, you say?  Other than running the risk of fatigue and needing an afternoon nap, what could be harmful about spring cleaning? Did you know that Spic and Span, Scrubbing Bubbles, Mop and Glow - the list goes on and on-all have been banned in other countries? You can visit here to see all the data, but Lysol rates as an F when it comes to safeness by the Environmental Working Group. Citing things such as moderate concern for asthma and allergies, high concern for developmental and reproductive toxicity, and some concern to the environment, skin irritation, and cancer, this product is just not one you need under your kitchen sink. Has it been under mine? Well of course it has, along with every other product listed with it that rates an F for various reasons.  I bet you probably didn't know that there is not federal regulation of chemicals household products. Why would you need to know that information? I didn't know it until I started researching for myself. But what I did know, like with candles, is that cleaning with household cleaning products that we bought at Wal-Mart made me feel awful. On a side note here, I have a damaged nerve in my face from sinus surgery that effects my nose and ear. It has a name and I'll write about that later, but in doing my research it made total sense to me why these products bothered me. Since I've started using essential oils for all things smelly and cleaning, my TNhas been completely under control! AH-mazing!!!! Anyway, back to business....

Rebecca Sutton, PhD, a senior scientist at the Environmental Working Group (EWG), explains, “In terms of household cleaners, neither ingredients nor products must meet any sort of safety standard, nor is any testing data or notification required before bringing a product to market.”
The average household contains about 62 toxic chemicals, say environmental experts. We’re exposed to them routinely — from the phthalates in synthetic fragrances to the noxious fumes in oven cleaners. Ingredients in common household products have been linked to asthma, cancer, reproductive disorders, hormone disruption and neurotoxicity.  (source)
This Spring, try some of these cleaning tips to for safe, non-toxic alternatives.

I have made up my own wipes with the Thieves cleaner and wipe down everything in may house. I put a cap full in a spray bottle and keep handy, as well. If you don't have the cleaner, oils from your kit will work just fine. Just add 10 drops of Thieves, 10 drops of lemon, and a squirt of organic witch hazel to a spray bottle. It's that easy! Drop a few drops of purification in a bowl of baking soda, sprinkle on carpet before vacuuming. I also add thieves cleaner to my wash. I put a few drops of purification in a water bottle and spray our fresh fruit. I even take these products to school and have the lady who does the mopping use Thieves cleaner in the water.

I mentioned this in my last post, but one thing we are all doing as the weather turns warmer is going to ball field or the soccer field. Mainly, just being outside period, and we also all know that with that comes bugs, bugs, pesky bugs! According to this site, a research article done in 2009 "found that DEET can interfere with the activity of enzymes that are vital for the nervous system to function properly. In the study, the researchers found that DEET blocked the enzyme cholinesterase, which is essential for transmitting messages from the brain to the muscles in insects. The researchers noted that DEET may also affect the nervous systems of mammals, and that more research in this area is needed.
The study, conducted by the Institute of Development Research in France, and published in the journal BMC Biology, found that chemicals that interfere with the action of cholinesterase can cause excessive salivation and eye-watering in low doses, followed by muscle spasms and ultimately death."   So, yum, yea....I'd take from this that bug spray, although it protecting us from bugs that carry diseases, are probably something we should find alternatives to if we can. I think I will be trying this.

We already use peppermint oil in a spray bottle for indoor bug spray, which comes in the kit. Purification, Mel A (Tea Tree) and Lavender also come in the kit. There are many recipes on the internet for bug spray and the good thing about these is that they area safe for your skin. In a spray bottle, fill with distilled water, add about 2 tablespoons of witch hazel (to keep the oils mixed) and 10 drops of each of these oils. Spray as needed. You don't even have to  have all of these oils for it to work. Just pick 2 or 3 if that is doable for you and go with it!
Along with all this being outside during all this pretty Spring weather (well if you live where I do we haven't seen much of it yet) comes the pollen and other allergens that causes us to get those Spring time sniffles. I don't think anybody needs me to add research on how harmful spring time sniffle medications can be. I mean, you have to show your ID to get most of it. THAT should be our sign. One of our favorite go to uses for the essential oils is the lemon, lavender, peppermint combo. I posted about it last week and we also made it at the make n take. Just add lemon, lavender, and peppermint to some carrier oil and massage on your neck, over your sinuses, behind your ears, even your chest.

RC is one of my top 5 FAV oils. It's a blend of some good stuff and some say it has a light Vick's Rub smell to it,in a non-toxic way of course.

To shut down those sniffles, diffuse, add to a drop of honey and take, add in a roller bottle and roll it on, make a capsule, use an already pre-made roll on called Breathe Again (GOOD STUFF, people, GOOD STUFF). I posted last week about an stick you could make.

The possibilities are just endless, but the best possibility of all is that you are using something that you know is safe and I can almost guarantee that by weeding out those chemical laden products that we use every day without even thinking you will feel better. After the Make N Take last week, I had a lady message me and say that she used her thieves spray to clean up after everyone has been out in the chicken houses that afternoon.  She stated not only did her house smell wonderful, but she could tell a difference in the overall feeling of her well being. Just think about what we may be coming in contact with that we don't even know. Is it time for you to make a change? No better time than Spring cleaning. Clean out -out with the old- and in with the new.
Happy oiling from The Well Oiled Family!

Let's Go Green - Oil Style

Happy St. Patrick's Day from The Well Oiled Family.

Somewhere over the rainbow, there awaits a big pot of oily goodness ready to help you and your family take a proactive approach to health issues.

Let me stop right here and say that somewhere over the rainbow, there lies an inner chemist, doctor, pharmacist, nurse, and perhaps even a writer wanna be - but instead I'm a school teacher. What I share on this blog is from personal experience and is not meant to treat, diagnose, cure, or prevent. Always check with your heath care professional if  you are uncertain about something.

So, last night I helped with my first ever Make n Take session where a group of fabulous ladies came together, shared their oils, and made some products to take home and use. It was tons of fun and I was so excited to see other people as passionate about Young Living Essential Oils as we are here at The Well Oiled Family.

I've said before that these essential oils are pretty powerful, but they aren't powerful enough to jump out of your box and perform magic. Most people start out diffusing. It's the easiest way to get some benefit from your oils. Diffusers usually put out mist/smell for up a few hours. Yesterday, one of my oily friends posted something that said it takes about 26 minutes for our body to reap the full benefit of a drop of an essential oil. Imagine the benefit that you get from a few drops being diffused for several hours.

Try this diffusing recipe to get your Spring kicked started.

This Relief Stick is a great, convenient way to get a grip on spring time sniffles. Stick it in your purse for the soccer or ball field, and use anytime.

Spring is the time of year that we all start getting outdoors.  It stays lighter longer in the day, the weather is super nice, ball and soccer season starts, and we fire up those grills. This is also the time of year people start worrying about finding swimsuits and getting out more for exercise. A few ways to use Young Living Essential Oils for those sunny, Spring days include sunscreen, sunburn relief, bug spray, muscle and tension relief from running/marathons/exercise,  and grill cleaning.

In the above sunscreen recipe, you just use a glob of coconut oil mixed with Young Living Carrot Seed. You will notice the SPF is 34. There are many other sunscreen recipes that you can add zinc oxide to, so be on the look out for those.

We all get a little red those first few times we are out in the Spring sun.

You will notice again, using a tablespoon of coconut oi with 5-6 drops of lavender and 5-6 drops of lavender helps with skin discomfort and inflammation. That's it. If you wanted to be a little more elaborate, you certainly could. The Well Oiled Family uses coconut oil and lavender for skin rashes instead of OTC things like Benedryl. If you wanted an easy way to carry this around, you could just let your coconut oil get to room temp so it's easy to stir, add your essential oils, mix it up, and keep in a storage container with a lid such as Rubbermaid. Always mixed up and super easy to use.

Try these Young Living Essential Oils for all the Spring time activity you are gearing up to do! These recipes are also fantastic for aches and pains from working too hard, too!

(The above graphic is a little hard to see. The bottles of Young Living Essential Oils shown are Deep Relief Roll-on -a fav at The Well Old Family, Aroma Siez, Marjoram, Pan Away, Wintergreen.) Put a few drops in some grape seed oil and massage oil OR try Young Living's Sports Ease with a few of these drops added.

And finally, what better way to end a Spring day than firing up that grill. We all know how gross a grill can get after it sits all winter. Go ahead and get it cleaned up, and while you are at it, this mix is perfect for Spring cleaning anything and everything in sight!

Ya'll know I can't get through a blog post without talking about my love affair with Thieves cleaning products. It cleans everything and anything -including that grill. In a spray bottle, fill with distilled water, add two caps full of thieves cleaner (more or less depending on how bad it is). Shake well. Spray the grill down and let sit for a few minutes. Clean as normal.

And there we have it- going green on this St. Paddy's Day, getting ready for Spring- oil style.

For more information on Young Living Essential Oils, visit the young living website. Also, The Well Oiled Family is an over-poster of all things oily at The Well Oiled Family on facebook.

Local Peeps- there are several opportunities coming up for you to see Young Living up close and personal. Let The Well Oiled Family know if you need more info on those!

Happy Oiling!

A Tale of Thieves (Essential Oil)

Welcome back The Well Oiled Family! It's been a few days since I've posted to the blog, so I figured it was time. Tonight, I decided to share a story about Thieves. No, not a like thieves who break into your house and steal your stuff.....well kind of!

I know we've all heard about the bubonic plague that pretty much wiped out the population of Asia of Europe. Not only was this plague, sometimes known as the Black Plague, taking the lives of everyone who caught it, but it hung around for some 1,000 years. That's a long time for an illness to be spreading around, killing off the population. During this time, there were people who robbed the dying and dead. They were finally caught and during the trial, they were offered leniency if they tell their secret that allowed them to be up close and personal with this plague, but keep from getting it. The thieves told of a special concoction of herbs - garlic, cloves, rosemary - among a few things. It is said that the story of the surviving thieves and their ability to fight of such a plague was study and Thieves Essential Oil Blend was born!

This little gem of a bottle does SO many things. I've shared that we have sensitivity to smells that come from chemicals in this house. It's so bad that I can't even enjoy clean sheets on the bed because of the smell of detergent and dryer sheets. It's so bad that if Sid uses the wet jet thingy to spot mop after the girls have eaten, I have to lock myself in the closed bedroom. It's so bad that my floor at school doesn't get mopped and I know when the bathroom across the hall gets cleaned so I can leave my door shut tight until the smell dies down. It's so bad that I if I sit by someone at a public event with strong perfume one, I have to move or end up with a bad headache. It's just BAD!

So when I first started using Young Living Essential Oils, I was excited to get my hands on Thieves for the healing properties it supposedly had. Little did I know that those same properties that kill and fight off bad things in our bodies could also be used to replace harmful, smelly chemicals in products that have adverse affects with us.

Today, my house was cleaned from top to bottom with nothing but Thieves cleaners. I had been using Thieves spray to spot clean here and there, but today started a new journey for us in our efforts to just have a healthier household. There is not doubt that this bottle of oil has saved a trip to the pediatrician for two of my sweethearts today, but I know that I know that I know that this.....

is right for our family.

It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to get a bottle of Young Living Thieves Essential Oil and use it for a million things. Of course this is the part where I have to tell you I may be in school for the 3rd time, but I'm not a doctor. I can't diagnosis, treat, prescribe, or cure, but I can share what has been happening at The Well Oiled Family.

Just a few ways that we use Thieves:
1. I don't buy the Thieves toothpaste, but I do put a drop on my toothbrush every morning.

2. Tooth aches - the clove has a numbing property. This is great for teething or for someone who needs dental work done and is too chicken to have it done.

3. We carry the bottle of Thieves Spray and Thieves Hand Purifier with us at all times. They aren't very big bottles and a little goes a long way. The spray can be used to spray buggies, tables, toilets, as a quick air freshener, for sore throat spray, seats, door knobs, at the doctor's office - anywhere and any way you can think of. I'm not a big hand purifier person, don't keep it in my classroom or carry it with me usually, but I just happened upon using this one time and loved it. It's infused with not only Thieves to kill those germs, but peppermint too. It's light, non-alcohol, chemical free, and smells great!

4. Thieves wipes - using a roll of paper towels, alcohol, purified water, and a baggy or empty baby wipes container, you can make your own Thieves wipes.

5. Of course immunity building and we ramp up the use when someone is getting sick. We apply it every day to help build immunity and multiple times a day and in the diffuser when someone is sick.

6. Cleaner - You can either use the actual essential oils to make your own cleaner or you can buy the pre-made cleaner and and dilute it for what you want to use it for.

7. Sore Throat - It's got a kick to it, but a drop of two in your mouth followed by a glass of water OR a drop of two in a glass of water to drink helps to soothe a sore throat.

And if those weren't enough reasons, take a look at this!

Maybe just the cleaning uses interest you.

And so much more! So so so much more!!!! If this is not enough to convince you, this PDF has some great ideas. There is even a 16-page reference guide you can download and read.

This little bottle of Young Living Thieves Essential Oil is just AH-MA-ZINGGGG!!! And if you aren't using it, you are missing out. But don't take my word for it! Try it out for yourself.

In the above picture, it's a not so little bottle because that is the large household cleaner. Obviously there is a difference in the two, but the one thing that remains the same is this....

If this blend of essential oils is what kept the thieves from catching the bubonic plague, then certainly it is good enough to help your family on the way to building healthy and chemical free.

Happy Oiling from The Well Oiled Family!!!

An Essential Oil You Don't Want To Be Without

I got a new from Young Living Essential Oils last month. I really don't know what possessed me to get it. I must have read something about it somewhere. For a few days I went without opening it because I didn't really know what to do with it. I finally did a little research on it and began using it.

Let me introduce to you.....

According to the Essential Oils Pocket Reference, EndoFlex is a blend that amplifies metabolism and vitality, and creates hormonal balance. Ahh....maybe those are good reasons why I bought it. It's a blend of sesame seed oil (for carrier), spearmint, sage, geranium, myrtle, German chamomile, and nutmeg. Sage is used to dispel negative emotions (as well as purifying and healing). Geranium is a relaxant and antispasmodic, as well as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti fungal, and stimulates the liver and pancreas. Myrtle helps to restore hormonal imbalances of the thyroid and ovaries. German chamomile acts as an anti-inflammatory and protects the liver. Nutmeg supports the adrenal glands for increased energy.

(The testimony contained in this graphic is not my own. But the uses listed here are spot on and THAT IS WHY I ORDERED THIS OIL!!!)

This graphic just sums up what I mentioned above.

WOWZA!!!! That's a lot of power packed in this 15 ml bottle of oil. But still, even after I read all that I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Some people say rub it topically over the kidney area, some people say rub it across the top of your ankles, some people say rub it on the inside (arch) of each foot, and some even say put a drop under your tongue.

Sooo, does it work??? Well, about two weeks ago I started applying a drop on the inside of each foot, a drop over each ankle, and one drop under the tongue.

Let me back up here and give you some background information about me. This is where my mom will email me and tell me I'm spilling too much information. So if you don't want to hear about female issues you can stop reading. After the twins were born, I had my tubes tied. And that started what has been 3 years of hormonal, monthly hell. To make a long story short, the doctor recommended a hysterectomy about 2 years ago, but who has time for that with many small children and full time job. So I've suffered through lots of pain and migraines. For the sake of sharing too much information with people who really probably don't want to read about it (you can message me for specific details you want information) I will just say that I finally recently had the chance to put this oil to the test.

And ya'll it did just what it was suppose to do. It WORKED! I was shocked that a few drops of this oil applied topically to my feet once a day could support my bodily systems in this way. For the first time in a long time, I was able to function instead of be in hormonal hell. So I think I'll keep putting this little oil on my feet.....it can only get better and better right????

For more oily goodness follow us at The Well Oiled Family. And if you missed last night's post about a blend for anxiety and calming nerves, check it out. As always if you are reading to start your oily journey, you can CLICK HERE and follow the instructions. Also remember I'm happy to order single oils for you if you read about one I post about. Just send me a message!

(Disclaimer - I am not a doctor. This post is not designed to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. These experiences are mine and I am simply sharing that with you. I am not being compensated to make these claims. Believe it not, this is a true story!)

Happy oiling from The Well Oiled Family!!!!!

The Calm In The Storm

Hello fellow oilers! I'm bringing you a story today they may very well be life changing for you, you know, unless you are a skeptic and all. If you are still skeptical, well......that's still ok, too!

But, before I can get to my story I need to remind you, in case any of you have forgotten, that I am not a doctor. As much as I would like to be a doctor, or better yet-a pharmacist- I am not able to diagnosis, treat, cure, or recommend such for anything thing at any time. The experience that I am about to tell you about is my personal testimony. I am not being paid to say them. (Doesn't this disclaimer make us all feel better. NO? Well at least it makes the FDA feel better.)

Anyway, on with the story. I'm going to introduce you to 5 different Young Living Essential Oils.

Now I know we've already talked about Lavender on The Well Oiled Family Facebook page. If  you missed it, check it out. Lavender is considered the Swiss Army Knife of essential oils because it does just about everything. One of those things is it's calming. Lavender is used in bed time lotions and other products that are used for relaxation.

This graphic on Patchouli is hard to read but one of the things it says this sweet little bottle of essential oil can do is reduce stress.

Valor! What more do  you need to know about Valor. Valor was one that I added to my very first order and it's on this months order again. This oil is great by itself to diffuse. As a matter of a fact, it's diffusing right now! You know you want some!

Vetiver - again there are so many good things that Vetiver does, everyone needs it in their essential oils collection. This essential oil is an odd one too. It is very very think and sllloooowww to drip out of it's dropper top. It's smell is woodsy, deep, almost like peanuts to me. Take a look at it's claim to fame! Again, there is no reason why you shouldn't have this oil.

Stress Away - This essential oil comes in your Everyday Oils Kit when you sign up with the starter kit. It smells like vanilla and lime - SO good!

But you want to know what is even better than these 5 Young Living Essential Oils? Ok, I'll tell you! What's even better is when you take those 5 things and mix a few drops of each together, then top it off with a carrier oil and put it in a roller bottle!

Liquidy calmy goodness everywhere you go! Roll this a few times on each wrist (or on your neck or feet) and I promise the sweetest calm you have ever felt will ensue!

My a-ha moment with this Liquid Gold....I mean Liquid Calm was just today as a matter of fact. When I first started using Young Living Essential Oils, I knew this was a blend I wanted to make. I gathered all the oils that didn't come in my kit and made a blend (with no carrier oil) in an empty bottle I had. I noticed that the next few times I used it, I was very relaxed almost to the point of falling asleep. So I put this to the side and really didn't think much more about it until yesterday when my roller bottles came in. I had to make a few of these for the winners of The Well Oiled Family giveaway so I said what the hey, I'll make a bottle for me with the carrier oil (since that not already in it). Threw it in my bag and forgot about it.

Until I was driving home this afternoon. I had that classic stressed out feeling - a million things on my mind, a million things to do, hurry home, the twins had dance, Bailey has homework, and it goes on and on and on........UNTIL I remember this little bottle I had thrown in my purse. I rolled a few drops on my wrist and the rest is history ya'll. I was amazed. I had it
too strong with no carrier oil, but these roller bottles were JUST RIGHT!!!!!

If you are looking for a safe, all-natural way to control stress in your life, think about this. CLICK HERE TO GET STARTED WITH YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS or message me about how you can try these products. If you want in on this months order I will need to know soon. You can order one or all of those at my cost if  you will contact me and let me know!! If you already use Young Living Essential Oils and want to know how to order more oils, message me!!! I'll give you your own roller bottle to make your blend!

And if  you are still a skeptic, well.......that's ok too! Happy oiling from The Well Oiled Family!!!!

OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION

Does signing up make me a “distributor”?

Nope! You are not required to sell anything at all to anyone. When you become a wholesale member, you get a special link that you can share with friends and get credit from their purchases, but there are no minimum sales amounts at all. In fact, 90% of the wholesale members in Young Living don’t do the business side at all. They are buying from Young Living because of the quality alone.

Am I required to make a minimum purchase each month?

There are absolutely NO minimum monthly purchase requirements. To remain a wholesale member, you have to make $50 worth of purchases per year to keep your membership. But if there’s a year that you don’t make a $50 purchase, you can reinstate your wholesale membership discount by just placing a $50 order.
If you do find yourself making regular purchases each month, then Young Living has a rewards program (called Essential Rewards) where you can make a nice percentage back in product credit each month on all of your purchases. So that’s a neat program to join if you find that you *want* to purchase regularly (but it’s not a requirement for being a wholesale member).

Why should I buy from Young Living instead of other essential oils companies?

It does seem like a new essential oils company pops up every day, doesn’t it?
I can’t speak to the quality of other companies, but I can say that Young Living was the only company in my research of essential oil companies that could answer all of my questions about purity in a way that was satisfactory to me.
Young Living was the only company that has their own farms (in the regions where the plants should be grown), could absolutely guarantee that no pesticides or herbicides were used in the growing of any of their oils (they use essential oils for pest control and they do all of the weeding by hand), has their own testing equipment (they do both in-house and 3rd party testing, and use many different testing methods not just GC/MS which only tests for certain chemicals, not whether those chemicals are synthetic or not), and only uses the first distillation of oils instead of adding chemicals to get more out of the plant.
Young Living also was the only company that was directly in charge of essential oil farming operations. Every other company I researched goes through some kind of an “oil broker” to buy their oils. They have to trust that the oil broker is telling the truth, who has to trust that the essential oil distilleries are telling the truth, who have to trust that the farmers are telling the truth about what they say they are doing.
With Young Living, you just have to trust one company instead of several.
I feel like it’s a trust step either way (anyone could be lying) but I felt the most comfortable trusting Young Living since they are a full-disclosure company. ANYONE can visit the farms, participate in the harvesting and distillation, view the Young Living labs, and see the entire process. That’s not an option with any other company.

How will I know which oils to use for what?

One of the benefits of joining The Well Oiled Family is that you get access to support from us and from another secret/closed group on Facebook run by Leadership in Young Living and a reference guide book.
The reference guide that I’m giving away as part of this promotion is also a HUGE resource. You can look up almost anything in it and see which essential oils and supplements can be helpful.

Does Young Living only sell essential oils?

The answer to this one was suprising to me when I first got my starter kit! Young Living actually has an entire line of personal care products, supplements, meal replacements, energy drinks, and more! Almost every product incorporates essential oils (for example, frankincense is absolutely wonderful in facial products), but there’s a wide variety of products available.
